How to skip the night with Carpet bots and give them a team

On servers or worlds where you use /player bots to keep chunks loaded or run farms, the bots can get in the way of everyone sleeping. Carpet Extra Extras has rules to deal with that and to keep your bots organised.

Let bots stop blocking sleep

1. Run /carpet carpetBotsSkipNight true.

2. Spawn a bot with /player <name> spawn.

3. Have the real players go to bed. The rule is meant to let the night be skipped without the bots holding it up.

If it doesn't work as you expect, check that the rule really is true and that the bot was spawned after you changed it.

Put bots on a team

These rules control bot teams:

• carpetBotTeam: turns the feature on.
• carpetBotTeamName: the name of the team.
• carpetBotTeamPrefixName: the prefix text shown on bots.
• carpetBotTeamColor: the team color.
• carpetBotTeamPrefixColor: the color of the prefix.

Steps:

1. Set the name and colors first, for example /carpet carpetBotTeamName <text>.

2. Enable /carpet carpetBotTeam true.

3. Spawn a new bot and check its name in the player list and above its head.

A team makes bots easy to tell apart from real players. It also lets you target them with vanilla team selectors.
