Cardboard Boxes FAQ

Cardboard Boxes is a Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 that adds an early game alternative to shulker boxes. It registers 17 box variants, one for each dye color plus the plain box.

Sneak and right-click a block like a chest, furnace, or machine to pack it and its contents or settings into a cardboard box. Right-click the ground to place the packed block elsewhere, and left-click to remove a box placed by mistake.

A cardboard box holds 9 stacks of items, compared to 27 for a shulker box. Unlike a shulker box, it does not need space above it to be opened, and it breaks instantly with your fists.

The mod is categorized as decoration and storage. You can dye your box after you have made it, and there are 17 color variants in total.

Cardboard Boxes adds boxes you can use to move blocks with their inventories and settings intact, as a replacement for heavier mods like JABBA's dollies or Mekanism's boxes. It is part of the Single Block Mod series.

In this mod, boxes are transport tools rather than placeable blocks. You pack a block into a box, carry it, and place the block down again somewhere else.
