How to Restore Default Values and Use Suggestions in Carbon Config
Carbon Config shows Suggestions — default values offered as hints — so you can quickly undo a bad change without hunting through documentation. This guide covers resetting options safely.
Reading the Suggestions
When you open a config entry, the screen often displays the suggested (default) value alongside your current one. This is the value the mod author considers sensible. If you have forgotten what an option originally was, the suggestion tells you immediately.
Resetting a Single Option
Click into the entry you want to reset. If a suggestion is shown, apply it — the field updates to the default. Save the config. Only that one value changes; everything else you have customized stays as it is.
Resetting a Whole Compound or Category
Because Carbon Config organizes settings into Compounds, you can often reset an entire group at once. Open the compound, look for a reset or restore-defaults control at the compound level, and apply it. This is useful when you have experimented with a feature and want its whole section back to stock.
After Resetting
Save and, if the mod requires it, reload or restart. If a value refuses to reset, it is likely server-controlled — resetting on your client will not override the server's value.
