Cape Provider Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Where do I find the config file to add capes?
The configuration file is located at config/cape-provider.json5 in your Minecraft folder. Open this file with a text editor to add providers or custom capes.
Can I use any image as a cape or does it need to be a specific size?
Your cape image must be the correct Minecraft cape texture dimensions, or it will not display properly in-game. Check the mod documentation or an existing provider's cape image to match the required size.
How do I add my own cape from a URL?
Add a custom provider entry in config/cape-provider.json5 with your UUID or username and the direct PNG image URL, then restart the game. The image must be hosted at a URL that stays accessible.
My cape isn't showing up after I edited the config. What should I do?
Make sure you restarted the game completely after saving the config file, verify the image URL is correct and still accessible, and check that your UUID or username is spelled exactly right in the configuration.
Do I need to use my UUID or can I use my username?
You can use either your UUID or your username in the configuration, depending on how the provider or your custom entry is set up. Check the example providers in the config to see which format is expected.
Can I switch between different cape providers?
Yes, you can enable or disable different providers in the config/cape-provider.json5 file and restart the game to switch which cape source is active.
What image formats does the mod support for capes?
The mod requires PNG format for cape textures. Other image formats will not work.
Will this mod work with other cosmetic mods?
Cape Provider Mod should work alongside most other cosmetic mods, but conflicts can occur if multiple mods try to modify the same cape rendering. Test compatibility and disable conflicting mods if capes don't display.
Does the mod work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, the mod works on multiplayer servers and will display capes for you and other players who have the mod installed with compatible providers configured.
Can I use a cape image stored locally on my computer instead of a URL?
No, the mod requires cape images to be hosted at a URL. You'll need to upload your cape texture to an image hosting service and use the direct link in your configuration.
