Using Expanded River Systems

Rivers in this mod are significantly wider and feel more like natural waterways. They're ideal for boat travel across long distances without constant course correction.

Planning Water Routes

From high ground, scout for river valleys cutting through the landscape. These wider waterways connect different biomes smoothly, making them excellent highways for exploration. Rivers are less likely to be interrupted by sudden terrain changes.

Building Docks and Waypoints

Establish small dock areas along rivers at regular intervals—every few hundred blocks is reasonable. A simple platform with a chest for supplies and a bed makes travel safer and more efficient.

Avoiding Obstacles

Watch for waterfalls dropping into canyons—these can appear suddenly in the expanded terrain. Approach unfamiliar river sections cautiously. The larger biomes mean rivers maintain consistent direction longer, so you're less likely to get lost, but always mark your path with torches or signs on nearby banks.
