Mining Resources in Canyons and Exposed Cliffs

Locating Canyon Systems

Canyons appear less often than in vanilla Minecraft but are dramatically larger when they form. Look for massive vertical cuts in the landscape, especially in mountainous or desert regions. These expose multiple ore layers at once.

Efficient Canyon Mining

Canyons reveal ore deposits across a wide vertical range. Rather than mining randomly, work systematically from top to bottom, collecting exposed ores as you descend. The sheer size means you'll find substantial quantities without extensive tunneling.

Bring a pickaxe suited to the ores you're targeting. Bring plenty of torches—canyon walls can be dark and confusing.

Safety in Large Canyons

Watch your footing on steep slopes. The mod's dramatic terrain means longer falls are possible. Use water buckets or blocks to create safe descent paths. If you're mining deep into a canyon wall, build platforms to prevent accidental drops.

Canyons often connect to cave systems, so you may encounter mobs. Bring a sword and consider mining during daylight or with good lighting to reduce surprise encounters.
