Finding and Exploring Massive Cave Systems
Locating Large Caves
Caves in this mod spawn less frequently than vanilla Minecraft, but when they do appear, they're dramatically larger. Rather than strip-mining, explore at mid-range depths (Y 0 to Y 64) where cave entrances are more visible on hillsides and canyon walls.
Look for dark openings in cliff faces and canyon sides—these often lead to expansive underground networks. Use a pickaxe to widen entrances if needed.
Preparing for Deep Exploration
Bring plenty of torches, food, and a water bucket. The larger cave systems mean you can travel much farther underground before hitting a dead end. Mark your path with torches on one side so you can navigate back.
Watch for lush cave biomes with hanging vines and glowing berries—these are visually distinct and contain unique resources. Bring a sword for mobs that spawn in the deeper darkness.
Mapping Your Route
Consider bringing a map mod or taking screenshots of major junctions. The sheer size of these caves makes it easy to get turned around. If you find a particularly large system, you may want to establish a base camp with a bed and crafting table near the entrance.
