How to Zoom In and Out with the Camera Utils Zoom Key

Camera Utils adds a smooth zoom that works like a spyglass but without the item, and it stacks nicely with freecam for scouting builds.

Binding and using zoom

Find the zoom keybind in the mod's controls section (it usually sits alongside the freecam bind). Assign it to something like a mouse button or a key near your movement hand. Hold the key to zoom in; release to return to normal FOV. The zoom level is adjustable in the config if the default is too aggressive or too weak for your taste.

Getting the most out of it

• Zoom works while freecam is active, so you can fly the camera to a vantage point and then zoom in on a detail without moving your body.
• If you also run a minimap or waypoint mod, zoom does not replace it — it just magnifies what is already on screen.
• Combine zoom with a screenshot key to grab close-up reference shots of builds or terrain for later.
• Zooming does not change your actual FOV setting, so your normal gameplay view is untouched when you let go.

If zoom feels jittery, lower your mouse sensitivity slightly or reduce the zoom step in the config. Smooth zoom depends on frame rate, so a stable framerate helps.
