How to Configure Camera Utils Keybinds and Settings

Most Camera Utils problems come down to a keybind conflict or a setting you did not know existed. Here is how to sort both out.

Finding the controls

Open Options, then Controls, then scroll to the Camera Utils category. You will see binds for freecam toggle, zoom, and perspective switching. If a bind shows as conflicting (usually highlighted in red), click it and press a new key. Common conflicts are with OptiFine zoom, minimap mods, and screenshot tools.

Tuning the config

Camera Utils has an in-game config screen, usually reachable from the mod list or a keybind. The settings worth touching are:

  • Freecam movement speed, if the camera crawls or rockets past what you want.
  • Zoom amount, if the default magnification is too much or too little.
  • Whether the camera returns to first-person automatically after certain actions.

When something breaks

If freecam or zoom stops responding, first check for a keybind conflict. Second, remember that Camera Utils is not compatible with OptiFine — if both are installed, expect features to misbehave or the game to crash. Remove one of them. Finally, if the config screen will not open, delete the mod's config file and let it regenerate on next launch.
