Flip or Invert Camera Effects With Negative Values

If the camera leans the opposite way from what feels natural, you can reverse an effect rather than only weakening it. Camera Overhaul accepts negative numbers in its settings for this.

How to Invert an Effect

1. Open the mod's settings menu in-game.

2. Pick the effect you want to reverse, such as sideways tilt when strafing or pitch when moving forward and backward.

3. Enter a negative number instead of a positive one. Keep the size of the number similar to the old value at first so only the direction changes.

4. Go back to the world and test by walking left and right, then forward and backward.

If the slider will not go below zero, edit the config file instead. Close the game, open .minecraft/config/cameraoverhaul.toml in a text editor, put a minus sign in front of the value, save, and relaunch.

Tips

  • Change one effect at a time so you know which setting caused which result.
  • Some people prefer the camera to lean into a turn, others away from it. Neither is correct, so go with what feels comfortable.
  • A negative jump or fall pitch makes the view tilt the other way when you leave or hit the ground. Test it with a short drop before settling.
  • To undo a mistake, flip the sign back or set the value to zero.
