Call Your Cat Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get a call horn for my cat?
Tame a cat and give it a name. Then hold any goat horn, sneak, and look at the cat for 4 seconds. You'll receive a horn that looks enchanted and carries the cat's name.
How do I call my cat to me?
Use the named, enchanted-looking horn the way you'd use a normal goat horn. The cat teleports to your side.
Which goat horn do I need to make a cat horn?
Any goat horn works. Just hold the one you want in your hand while you sneak and look at the cat.
The horn didn't appear when I sneaked and looked at my cat. What am I doing wrong?
Check that the cat is tamed and that you're the one who tamed it. It also needs a name, and you must be holding a goat horn. Keep sneaking and keep your crosshair on the cat for the full 4 seconds.
Does the cat need a name before I can get the horn?
Yes. Name the cat first, because the horn is named after it. Giving each cat a different name also helps you tell their horns apart.
Does the horn work if my cat is far away or in an unloaded chunk?
Yes. The cat can be anywhere, and the horn still teleports it to you, even from unloaded chunks.
My cat is invisible after I called it from far away. How do I fix it?
This is a known bug that can happen when the cat was very far away. Leave and rejoin the game, and the cat becomes visible again.
Can another player use my cat's horn or get a horn for my cat?
No. Only the cat's owner can get the horn for that cat and use it to call the cat.
Does this work for dogs, parrots or other pets?
No. The data pack is made for tamed cats only.
Will this data pack cause lag, or do I need another mod?
It's a data pack, so you don't need a mod for it, and no performance problems are documented. The only known issue is the invisible cat after a very long-distance call, which a rejoin fixes.
