Building Upward and Downward: Pillars, Ceilings, and Floors
Placing above you
To build upward without jumping, aim your crosshair at the empty space directly above your head. The mod highlights that air position, and right-clicking places a block there. Repeat while stepping forward to create a ceiling or a
raised platform. This is handy for roofing a build or making an overhang you can walk under.
Placing below you
Aiming downward at empty air below your feet places a block there. This is the core of bridge-building: you extend a floor beneath you as you move. You can also use it to fill in holes or create a floor in a ravine without descending.
Practical patterns
- Straight bridge: look down-forward, place, step, repeat.
- Wide platform: place a row ahead, step onto it, then place the next row.
- Ceiling: look up-forward, place, step, repeat.
- Pillar up: look straight up and place repeatedly to stack blocks above you.
Watch the indicator
When the F3 menu is open, an outline box shows exactly which air block will receive the placement. Use it to confirm you are targeting above versus below before you commit the block.
