Breed two axolotls using tropical fish from a fishing rod

This mod lets you skip catching tropical fish in buckets. Ordinary tropical fish items work for breeding axolotls.

What you need

• Two adult axolotls. Babies can't breed.
• At least two tropical fish items, one per axolotl. Get them by fishing or from fish you've killed.
• Water for the axolotls to stay in.

Steps

1. Put both adults in the same water pool, close together.

2. Hold a tropical fish item in your hand and use it on the first axolotl. Hearts should appear.

3. Do the same on the second axolotl.

4. A baby axolotl appears and you receive some experience.

Tips

• If no hearts appear, check that the axolotl is an adult and that you're holding the fish item rather than something else.
• After breeding, each parent has a cooldown before it can breed again. Give them time before feeding them again.
• Keep spare tropical fish in your inventory so you can feed several pairs in one trip.
• Only feed an axolotl when you intend to breed it, because the fish is used up on each feeding.
