How to avoid losing progress when dying crashes your game
With Break Me Mod, every player death crashes the game instead of showing the respawn screen. Anything that hadn't been saved to disk at that moment can be lost. The fix is to save more often than you normally would.
Build a saving habit
- Save and quit before anything risky. Fighting a boss, exploring the Nether, swimming near lava or entering a mob-heavy cave are all good moments. Choose *Save and Quit to Title*, then reopen the world.
- Use /save-all if you can. If cheats are enabled in your singleplayer world, running
/save-allforces the world to write to disk without leaving the game. - Don't rely on autosave. Minecraft saves periodically in the background, but a death can land right before the next save. Treat autosave as a safety net, not a plan.
- Save after valuable moments. Good times are after finding a rare item, finishing a big build or filling a chest with loot.
Before you go somewhere dangerous
1. Store your best gear and rare items in a chest at base.
2. Save and quit, or run /save-all.
3. Go out carrying only what you can afford to lose.
If you die anyway, the game closes. Reopen it and load the world. You'll come back to the last saved state, which is why saving right before a risky trip matters most.
