Break Me Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
What does Break Me Mod actually do?
It crashes your game whenever your player dies. Nothing else is added, so there are no new items, blocks, or recipes. The only change is that death closes Minecraft instead of showing the respawn screen.
How do I start using Break Me Mod?
You don't need to set anything up. Once the mod is loaded, it is active in every world you open. Dying is what triggers the crash.
Is the crash when I die a bug?
No, it's the intended feature. The mod is built to make dying inconvenient by crashing the game, so reporting it as a bug won't get you anywhere.
Will I lose my progress when I die and the game crashes?
Possibly. Anything that wasn't saved to disk before the crash can be lost, such as recent building, exploring, or inventory changes. Minecraft autosaves periodically, but you can't count on a save having just happened. Back up your world and avoid risky situations when you haven't saved in a while.
Can I save my game right before I die?
In singleplayer you can quit to the title screen to force a save before doing something dangerous. That is the safest habit with this mod. Once you're already dying, it's too late.
How do I back up my world before using this mod?
Close Minecraft, open your saves folder, and copy the world's folder somewhere safe. If a death crash ever corrupts or rolls back your world, you can paste the copy back in. Do this before your first session, and again before any risky trip.
Where do I find the crash report after I die?
Open your Minecraft game folder and look in the crash-reports folder. The newest file there is from your latest crash. It should show that the crash was caused by the mod on purpose, not by a problem with your setup.
How do I play normally again after a death crash?
Relaunch Minecraft and reopen your world. You'll load from the last saved state, which may be a little behind where you died. Your character will be wherever the last save left it, so check your surroundings before carrying on.
How can I avoid dying with this mod installed?
Play more cautiously. Keep your health and hunger topped up, wear your best armor, and stay away from lava, deep falls, and large mob groups. Using peaceful difficulty also removes most of the danger from mobs.
Does Break Me Mod work with other mods, and does it affect performance?
It only reacts to player death, so it shouldn't affect performance or interfere with other mods during normal play. When you die, the whole game crashes, including any other mods' unsaved data. If you run a large modpack, keep regular backups.
