BorderXP Map FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start a new BorderXP Map world?
Create a new world and select BorderXP Map as your world type during world creation. You'll spawn in a small enclosed area with walls around you—this is your starting border.
How do the walls expand?
The border expands outward as you gain XP from any source (mining, killing mobs, smelting, etc.). Each time you level up, the walls push back further, giving you access to more terrain.
Can I play BorderXP Map with friends?
Yes, you can play multiplayer on a server or LAN world. All players share the same border, so teamwork to gain XP will expand the world faster for everyone.
What's the best way to expand the border quickly?
Focus on XP-efficient activities like mob farming, smelting, or fishing rather than just mining. Check the 'Expand Your World Faster' guide for specific strategies that suit your playstyle.
Should I build my base in the center or near the edge?
Building near the current border wastes space since walls will expand around you. Plan your base layout toward the center and leave room for expansion as the border grows—see the 'Plan Your Base Layout for Border Expansion' guide for details.
Can I turn off the border or change how fast it expands?
BorderXP Map doesn't have built-in difficulty settings for border speed, so you're locked into the default expansion rate. If you want custom rules, you'll need to check if the mod supports configuration files.
What happens if multiple players are in multiplayer—does everyone's XP count?
Yes, all XP earned by any player on the server contributes to border expansion, so playing together speeds up world growth for the whole group.
Is BorderXP Map compatible with other mods?
BorderXP Map should work with most mods, but mods that heavily modify world generation or XP mechanics may conflict. Test with a small set of mods first if you're unsure.
How do I prepare for the first night if I'm stuck in a tiny space?
Gather wood and stone quickly, craft basic tools, and build a small shelter before dark. The 'Prepare for the First Night' guide covers resource priorities when space is limited.
What happens if I die—do I lose progress toward border expansion?
No, your XP progress is permanent and tied to the world, not your inventory. You'll respawn and keep working toward the next border expansion.
