Troubleshoot Dark or Washed-Out Lighting
Check Sky Brightness Settings
Open shader settings (O) and locate Sky & Ambient Light. If your world looks too dark:
- Increase Sky Brightness to brighten the overall scene
- Raise Ambient Light to lift shadows without removing them
If everything looks bleached or overexposed, lower these values instead.
Verify Time of Day
Lighting changes dramatically between day and night. Test your settings at different times:
- Noon: Shadows are short and sharp
- Sunset/Sunrise: Shadows are long and colored
- Night: Only moon and artificial light matter
If night is unplayably dark, increase Night Brightness or add torches.
Reset to Defaults
If you've adjusted many settings and lighting looks wrong, find the Reset to Preset button in the shader menu. This restores your chosen preset (potato, low, or medium) to factory settings.
Check Your Preset
Confirm you're using the right preset for your hardware. Potato preset intentionally uses brighter, simpler lighting. If you switched presets, lighting will change noticeably.
