How to Make Bobby Render Chunks Farther Than the Server Allows
Understand What Bobby Actually Does
Bobby does not ask the server to send more chunks. The server still only sends its configured view distance. Instead, Bobby saves every chunk you have ever seen into .minecraft/.bobby and keeps rendering those stored chunks after the server stops sending them. So the farther you explore, the more distant terrain Bobby can show on later visits.
Steps to Extend Your View
1. Open the Bobby config through Mod Menu (or the Cloth Config screen if you launch it directly).
2. Find the option that controls how far Bobby renders stored chunks and raise it. This is a client-side render distance, not a server request, so it can exceed the server's limit.
3. Make sure the setting that lets Bobby use its own render distance is enabled, otherwise vanilla's server-limited distance wins.
4. Travel around the area you care about once while the server is sending chunks, so Bobby records them.
5. Return later or move away and back — Bobby will draw the saved chunks beyond the server's range.
Keep Expectations Realistic
Chunks Bobby has never recorded cannot appear. New terrain you have never visited stays empty until the server sends it or you load it from a local world. Also expect higher memory and GPU use at large distances; lower the distance if you get stutter.
