How to Fix Bobby Not Showing Distant Chunks

Check the Basics First

Bobby can only render chunks it has recorded or loaded from a local world. If you just installed it and flew straight out, there is nothing saved yet. Walk or fly through the area once with the server sending chunks, then move away and look back.

Common Causes and Fixes

  • Server view distance is tiny: Bobby still needs you to have visited the chunks at least once. Explore the area before expecting it to persist.
  • Stored-chunk render distance is low: Open the config and raise it. If it is at or below the server's distance, you will not notice any difference.
  • Local world option misconfigured: If you enabled loading from a single-player world, confirm the path points at the right save folder. A wrong path silently yields no extra chunks.
  • Config not applied: Save the config and reconnect. Some changes only take effect on a fresh world load.
  • Memory pressure: Very large distances can cause chunks to be dropped or the game to stutter. Lower the distance and test again.

Verify It Is Working

Stand still and look toward terrain you explored earlier that is now outside the server's view distance. If Bobby is working, that terrain stays rendered instead of fading to void. If it still disappears, revisit the area to re-record it, then recheck your config values.
