How to Configure Bobby In-Game With Mod Menu and Cloth Config
Open the Config
If you use Fabric with Mod Menu installed, open Mod Menu from the mods list, find Bobby, and click its config button. Without Mod Menu, Bobby's Cloth Config screen can still be reached through the mod's own config entry point depending on your setup. Either way you get the same options.
The Settings That Matter Most
- Render distance for stored chunks: how far Bobby draws chunks it has saved. Raise it for a farther view, lower it to save performance.
- Use local world chunks: toggles reading from a single-player save.
- Local world path: where Bobby looks for that save.
- Fake chunks / empty chunk behavior: controls whether Bobby draws placeholder chunks where it has no data, which can reduce popping.
Apply and Verify
1. Change one setting at a time so you can tell what caused any change.
2. Save the config. Some options apply immediately; others need a reconnect or world reload.
3. Fly or walk outward and watch whether distant terrain stays visible past the server's view distance.
4. If performance drops, reduce the stored-chunk render distance first — it is the biggest cost.
Keep a note of your values so you can restore them if an update resets the config.
