Troubleshooting: sand won't smelt in my blast furnace

If the sand won't go into the blast furnace or nothing is happening, check these points.

Quick checks

  • Are you using a blast furnace? Smokers and campfires don't gain the glass recipe. Make sure the block you opened is a blast furnace.
  • Is the sand in the top slot? The input goes in the upper slot and the fuel in the lower slot.
  • Is there fuel? The flame icon only lights up when fuel is burning. Add coal, charcoal or another fuel item.
  • Is the output slot blocked? If it holds a different item, or a full stack of glass, smelting stops. Take the glass out.

If it still fails

  • Confirm the mod is actually loaded by checking your mod list in the main menu.
  • If you are on a server, the mod may also need to be present on the server side. Ask the admin.
  • Test with plain sand first. If it works, any other sand-like block you tried probably isn't covered by the mod's recipe.
  • As a fallback, a regular furnace still smelts sand into glass, only more slowly.
