Build and Execute Guard Counters

Charging Your Guard Counter

While holding Sneak to maintain your guard, you're simultaneously charging a guard counter. The longer you block incoming attacks, the more your counter builds up. This transforms passive defense into offensive potential.

Releasing Your Counter-Attack

Once your guard counter has charged sufficiently, release Sneak or press your attack button to unleash the counter-offensive. The power and effect depend on how much charge you accumulated—longer blocks create stronger counters.

Tactical Counter Usage

Time your guard counters strategically:

  • Against grouped enemies: Block multiple hits to build high charge, then release for maximum knockback
  • During parries: Successful parries accelerate counter charging, letting you unleash powerful responses faster
  • Before enemy attacks: Anticipate incoming damage and hold guard to build charge while protecting yourself

Guard counters are most effective when combined with parrying. A well-timed parry into a charged counter creates devastating offensive pressure. Don't hold guard indefinitely—release your counter before enemies adapt to your defense, or you'll waste the accumulated charge.
