Finding Structures Quickly with Biome Spy

Use the standard locate structure command

Biome Spy accelerates the existing /locate structure <structure_id> command rather than adding its own. Enter it exactly as you would in vanilla, for example targeting a village, stronghold, or a modded structure. The mod removes most of the waiting, so results appear in a fraction of the usual time.

Choose the correct structure ID

Structure IDs follow the same namespaced format as biomes. Vanilla ones look like minecraft:village_plains or minecraft:stronghold; modded ones carry their own namespace. Rely on tab-completion to confirm the exact ID, since guessing can return nothing even when the structure is present.

Practical tips

  • Run the command from where you actually are; the search is centred on your position.
  • If you get no result, move a few hundred blocks and try again — the structure may simply be outside the searched radius.
  • Combine with a Nature Compass if you prefer a visual pointer over raw coordinates.

Because the heavy scanning is offloaded efficiently, you can chain several locate commands back to back without the stutter that normally comes with repeated searches.
