How do I start using Biome Spy after installing it?
You don't need to do anything — the mod works automatically the moment it's loaded. Just use /locate or your Nature Compass as you normally would, and the searches will already be faster.
Does Biome Spy change how /locate works or just make it faster?
It only changes how the game searches for biomes and structures behind the scenes, so the command syntax and results stay the same. You still type /locate biome or /locate structure the same way.
Why is my /locate command still slow?
Make sure the mod is actually loaded on the world you're playing — it must be installed on the server or in your singleplayer instance, not just the client. If you're on a multiplayer server, the server needs the mod for the speedup to apply.
Does Biome Spy work with modded biomes like TerraBlender or AlexsCaves?
Yes, it supports custom biomes from mods such as TerraBlender and AlexsCaves. You can /locate those biomes just like vanilla ones and still get the speed benefit.
Can Biome Spy find underground or cave biomes?
Yes, cave and underground biomes are still located correctly. The mod speeds up the search without skipping the vertical range where cave biomes generate.
Will Biome Spy break my existing world or require new world generation?
No, it doesn't change world generation or add new blocks, so it's safe to add to an existing world. It only affects how the game searches for biomes and structures.
Do I need to change any config settings or gamerules for Biome Spy to work?
No setup is required — it works out of the box with default settings. There are no gamerules or config toggles you need to enable for the speedup to apply.
Does Biome Spy work with the Nature Compass?
Yes, the Nature Compass benefits from the same faster biome searching. Point it at a biome type and it will find the nearest one much quicker than before.
Will Biome Spy cause lag or freeze my game while searching?
The mod is designed to reduce the long freezes and stutters that normally happen during /locate searches. Searching is much faster, so the game spends far less time stalled.
Does Biome Spy work on a multiplayer server if only I have it installed?
No — the search happens on the server side, so the server needs Biome Spy installed for the speedup to work. If only your client has it, /locate will run at normal speed.
