Bigger Stack Size Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Does this mod work right away or do I need to configure it?
The mod works immediately after installation with default settings, which allows all items to stack up to 64. You only need to configure it if you want to change which item types are stackable or blacklist specific items.
How do I make only tools stackable and not regular items?
Use the command: `scoreboard players set @s stack_mode config.biggerstacksize 1`. This will make only tools and weapons stackable while items return to their vanilla stack sizes.
Can I stack enchanted items?
Enchanted items will not stack with each other or with unenchanted versions of the same item, as this is a Minecraft limitation. Each enchanted item takes up its own slot.
I picked up an item but it's still not stacking with my other stack. Why?
Drop the item on the ground and pick it up again—this forces it to recognize the existing stack. If it still doesn't work, check that your stack_mode setting allows that item type to stack.
How do I stop specific items from stacking?
You can blacklist individual items using the blacklist command, though the wiki entry on this feature appears incomplete. Check the mod's configuration file or in-game commands for the full blacklist syntax.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod is lightweight and shouldn't cause noticeable performance problems, though having very large stacks in your inventory is generally safe. Performance depends more on your overall modpack and world complexity than on this mod alone.
What happens if I reset stack sizes—will my current stacks break apart?
Using value 3 to reset to vanilla defaults will restore normal stack sizes, but existing oversized stacks in your inventory may behave unexpectedly. It's safest to drop and reorganize your items after resetting.
Can I stack items and tools at the same time?
Yes—use the command with value 2 to make both items and tools stackable up to 64. This is useful if you want maximum stacking flexibility.
Does this mod work with other mods that add custom items?
Custom items from other mods will generally stack if they're classified as regular items or tools. If a custom item doesn't stack, try dropping and picking it up again, or check if it's blacklisted.
Can I have different stack modes for different players on a server?
The stack_mode setting is global, so all players on a server will have the same stacking rules. Individual player blacklists may be possible depending on the mod's configuration options.
