Understanding Flying Mount Limitations

While the Beyond Horses Resource Pack includes flying creatures like Phantom, Bat, and Bee, remember that horses cannot actually fly in vanilla Minecraft. The pack changes only the visual appearance—your mount will still move like a regular horse on the ground.

Creating a Flying-Themed Mount

1. Use an anvil to rename a nametag with [Phantom], [Bat], or [Bee] followed by a custom name

2. Apply the nametag to a horse

3. The horse now appears as a flying creature but walks normally

Workarounds for Flight

To experience true flying with your creature mount:

• Use the mount on high terrain and ride downhill for a gliding effect
• Combine with other mods that add flight mechanics
• Ride through the Nether where terrain is more vertical and chaotic
• Use the mount in creative mode where you can fly freely

The visual transformation makes ground travel feel more immersive even without actual flight, as your Phantom or Bat mount will move naturally across the landscape with appropriate animations.
