Create Your First Custom Mount with a Nametag

What You Need

Gather a nametag (found in loot chests or crafted), an anvil, and a horse you want to transform. You'll also need the required dependency mods installed: Entity Texture Features and Entity Model Features.

Naming Your Mount

1. Place your anvil and open it

2. Put the nametag in the anvil's input slot

3. In the text field, type the creature name in brackets followed by your custom name. For example: [Wolf] Shadow or [Creeper] Boom

4. Confirm the name and take the nametag

5. Use the renamed nametag on any horse by right-clicking it

Instant Transformation

The horse's appearance changes immediately. The creature model replaces the horse visually, but all the original horse stats, speed, and controls remain unchanged. Your new mount will use natural walking animations that match the creature type you selected.

Finding Creature Names

Use the exact in-game name of any creature the pack supports—passive animals like Wolf or Cow, hostile mobs like Skeleton or Creeper, or even boss mobs like Ender Dragon or Wither. Check the pack's creature list to see all available options.
