How to Survive the Traps and Hidden Areas in Better Strongholds
Recognize Trap Patterns
Better Strongholds adds traps throughout its tunnels and hallways. They are not random; they tend to appear where the layout
funnels you into a narrow space or rewards you for rushing. Treat any tight corridor, sudden drop, or suspiciously clean floor as a potential hazard. Walk, do not sprint, through unfamiliar passages so you have time to react.
Neutralize Traps Safely
Carry a stack of cheap blocks and use them to bridge over or wall off anything that looks dangerous. If you trigger something, back out the way you came rather than pushing forward into a second hazard. Keep food and healing on hand so a single trap hit does not end your run. Water buckets can help you descend safely if a trap drops you into a pit.
Explore Hidden Areas Carefully
Hidden sections are one of the mod's highlights, but they are easy to miss and easy to get trapped in. Check dead ends, behind staircases, and unusual wall textures. When you break into a hidden room, mark the entrance immediately so you can find your way back out. Hidden areas often contain loot, so it is worth the detour, but clear mobs before looting.
Bring the Right Kit
Torches,
blocks, food, a sword, and a pickaxe cover most situations. A bed placed outside the stronghold gives you a safe respawn point if a trap kills you deep inside.
