How to Find the End Portal Room in a Better Strongholds Mod Stronghold

Why It Is Harder Now

In vanilla, the portal room is usually close to the entrance. With Better Strongholds, the structure is much larger and packed with over a dozen room types, so the portal room can sit deep inside, behind staircases and hidden sections. Do not assume the first corridor leads there.

Systematic Search Method

Work through the stronghold room by room instead of wandering. Clear and mark each room you fully explore so you never re-check it. Prioritize descending staircases, since portal rooms tend to sit on lower levels. Libraries, prisons, and similar rooms are usually dead ends or side branches, so note them and move on rather than looting everything immediately. If you find a corridor that keeps branching, follow one branch to its end, mark it, and backtrack.

Look for Hidden Access

Because the mod adds secret sections, the route to the portal may pass through a concealed opening. Check walls at the end of hallways, behind staircases, and in rooms that feel smaller than they should be. A single breakable block often hides the way forward.

Prepare for the Fight

When you reach the portal room, expect silverfish and possibly other mobs. Clear the room before placing Eyes of Ender in the frame. Bring spare Eyes in case some are already placed, and light the area so you are not fighting in the dark while activating the portal.
