Set Up a Biome Blacklist to Protect Dangerous Areas
Why Blacklist Biomes
Biome blacklisting prevents players from randomly teleporting into dangerous or restricted zones like lava-heavy Nether biomes, deep caves, or admin-only areas. This keeps survival gameplay fair and protects server builds.
How to Configure
1. Open your plugin configuration file (usually in the config folder).
2. Locate the biome blacklist section—this lists biomes that won't appear in random teleports or biome menu selections.
3. Add biome names one per line. Use the exact vanilla biome name or your custom datapack biome identifier.
4. Save the file and run /rtp reload in-game to apply changes immediately.
5. Test by opening /rtp biome menu—blacklisted biomes should no longer appear.
Tips
- Blacklist biomes with excessive lava, like Nether Wastes or Basalt Deltas, to avoid player deaths.
- You can blacklist custom datapack biomes the same way as vanilla ones.
- Reload the plugin after every config change; changes won't apply without it.
- Combine blacklisting with per-world teleport radius settings for layered protection.
