How to Show Both Ping Numbers and the Vanilla Ping Bars
Turning the Bars Back On
By default Better Ping Display replaces the vanilla signal-bar icons with a numeric ping value. If you miss the little bar graphic, you can have both. Open betterpingdisplay.json in your config folder and find the option renderPingBars. Set it to true. Save the file and relaunch the game. Now the player list will show the numeric ping alongside the default Minecraft bars, so you get precise latency numbers and the quick visual reference at the same time.
Why You Might Want Both
Numbers are great for judging exactly how laggy a connection is, but bars are faster to scan when you are glancing at a full server list. Keeping both lets you read the number when it matters and rely on the bars for a quick impression. Note that the bars are drawn by vanilla logic, so they will not match your custom pingTextColor — they use their own coloring. If the extra icon feels cluttered, simply set renderPingBars back to false and only the number remains. Remember this is a client-side mod, so these changes only affect what you see; other players' displays are unaffected by your config choices.
