How to Change Ping Text Color in Better Ping Display

Editing the Config File

Better Ping Display stores its settings in betterpingdisplay.json, located in your Minecraft config folder. Open it with any plain text editor. The key you want is pingTextColor. It expects a hex color code in the format #RRGGBB. For example, #FF5555 gives you red text, #55FF55 gives green, and #FFFFFF gives white. Save the file and restart Minecraft so the change takes effect — the mod reads the config on launch.

Using Auto Color Instead

If you would rather not pick a single fixed color, set autoColorPingText to true. With this enabled, the mod colors each player's ping number based on how high their latency is, so a fast connection shows one color and a laggy one shows another. This is handy on busy servers where you want to spot problem connections at a glance. When auto coloring is on, your manual pingTextColor value is effectively overridden for the number itself, so decide which behavior you prefer before editing. If you want both the colored number and the familiar vanilla signal bars, also set renderPingBars to true; otherwise the bars stay hidden and only the numeric ping is shown next to each name.
