How to Toggle the Update Notification Glyph on the Mods Button

What the Glyph Means

The update notification glyph is a small icon that appears on the Mods button to alert you that one or more of your mods has an available update. It is a visual nudge, not an automatic updater — it simply tells you to go check.

Turning It On or Off

Open the Better Mods Button config screen and find the option for the update notification or update glyph. Toggle it to enable or disable the icon. With it enabled, the glyph shows whenever your mod loader has detected pending updates. With it disabled, the button stays clean even if updates exist.

Deciding What Suits You

If you like being reminded to update, leave the glyph on — it is a low-effort way to stay current without opening your mod list manually. If you manage updates on your own schedule, or the constant icon bothers you, turn it off. Note that hiding the glyph does not stop update checking itself; it only hides the visual indicator on the button. You can combine this with the mod count display and your chosen button placement freely. Reopen the title or pause screen after toggling to confirm the glyph appears or vanishes.
