How to Loot Chests and Find Mineral Deposits in Better Mineshafts

Loot Chests

Better Mineshafts adds loot chests throughout the structure, so exploration is rewarding. Chests tend to appear near abandoned workstations, miner outposts, and at the ends of certain tunnels. Search every side room and dead-end corridor rather than rushing along the main rail line.

Mineral Deposits

At the end of some tunnels you will find mineral deposits — exposed ore clusters that act as a payoff for following a corridor to its terminus. When a tunnel dead-ends, check the walls and floor before turning back; the deposit is often embedded right at the end.

Step-by-Step

1. Follow rails and support beams to map the main corridors first.

2. Branch into every side passage, since loot and deposits hide off the main path.

3. Look for abandoned workstations and miner outposts — these are landmark rooms that usually contain chests.

4. At each dead end, mine the surrounding blocks to reveal mineral deposits.

5. Collect everything, then mark the spot if you want to return.

Caution

Mineshafts are dark and full of mobs. Light corridors as you go, and never dig straight down into an unexplored shaft below you.
