How to trigger the Better Mace wave effect with a smash attack
The wave from Better Mace Data Pack only appears on a real mace smash attack. A normal swing will not produce it, so you need to set the attack up properly.
Steps
1. Hold a mace in your main hand.
2. Get above your target. Climb a block pillar, a hill or a ledge. The higher you are, the stronger the vanilla smash attack.
3. Jump or step off, and keep falling toward the mob or player.
4. While you are still falling, hit the target. The smash lands and the wave appears around the enemy you hurt.
Things to know
- The wave is visual only. The data pack does not add damage or change how the mace works, so damage still depends on the vanilla fall mechanics.
- If you hit the target while standing on the ground or after landing, it is an ordinary mace hit and you will not see the wave.
- The wave forms around the enemy you hurt, not around you. Aim for the target's body and attack before you touch the ground.
- Test on a mob in a pen first to get the timing right before using it in a fight.
