Better Lily Pads Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I place a block on a lily pad?
Hold any placeable block and right-click the lily pad. The lily pad moves down into the water block below it and the block goes on top, so you don't need any special item or setup.
What actually happens to the lily pad when I put a block on it?
The lily pad moves into the water block below and turns into a waterlogged block. Your block then sits where the lily pad was, so the surface stays level.
How do I get my lily pad back to normal?
Remove the block that's sitting above it. Once that block is gone, the lily pad returns to its vanilla state on its own.
Why won't a block place on my lily pad?
The mod only works when the block directly below the lily pad is a water block. Check that there's water under it and not land, ice or some other block. Also make sure the item in your hand is one that can normally be placed.
Does it work with any block, or only certain ones?
It's meant to work with any block that can be placed. If an item can't be placed normally, clicking a lily pad with it won't do anything special.
Does this mod add new items, recipes or blocks I need to craft?
No. It just changes how existing lily pads react when you click them with a placeable item, so there's nothing to craft or find.
How do I build a path or platform across a pond?
Place lily pads on the water as usual, then click each one with the block you want to build with. Each lily pad needs water directly beneath it. Removing a block later restores that lily pad to normal.
Can I place blocks on lily pads that are over shallow or non-water spots?
No. If the block below the lily pad isn't water, it behaves like a vanilla lily pad and won't convert. Fix this by putting water under it or moving it to a water block.
Will this mod cause lag?
It's a very small mod. It only comes into play when you click a lily pad with a placeable item, and I don't know of any ongoing processing from it. Large builds on a pond shouldn't need special handling.
Is it compatible with other mods that change water or lily pads?
I can't confirm compatibility with any specific mod. Mods that also change lily pad or water behavior may conflict, so test in a small area first. If a lily pad isn't reacting, see whether a different mod is overriding the click.
