Show a custom HUD to players and set it as the default

BetterHud works from HUD files kept in its own folder on the server. Each HUD is built from layouts (text, images, heads) placed at positions on the screen.

Give a HUD to yourself

1. Open the BetterHud folder on your server and look in the huds folder. The mod ships with example HUD files you can use as a starting point.

2. Note the name of the HUD you want. This is its key in the file, not necessarily the file name.

3. Make sure you are an operator or have the command permission.

4. Use the HUD add command (/hud add <hud name>) to give it to yourself and check it on screen.

5. Use the matching remove command to take it off again.

Make it show for everyone who joins

1. Open the main config.yml in the BetterHud folder.

2. Find the default HUD setting and put your HUD's name there. Players who join then receive it automatically.

3. Save the file and run the reload command (/hud reload).

4. Rejoin the server and confirm the HUD appears.

Tips

  • If the HUD does not show, check the console for YAML errors. Indentation mistakes are the usual cause.
  • Players must accept the generated resource pack, or the custom visuals will not render.
  • Test with a second account that has no special permissions, so you see what ordinary players see.
