How to Enable and Adjust the Horizontal Render Stretch in Better Fps Render Distance
Finding the Option
Once the mod is installed, open Minecraft's Video Settings and look for the render distance area. The mod adds a slider that controls how far the circular render radius is stretched horizontally. If you use Optifine, this button will not appear in Video Settings, so you must edit the mod's config file directly instead.
Choosing a Value
- A low stretch keeps the render shape close to a true circle, so you see roughly equal distances in every horizontal direction and plenty of terrain above and below you.
- A high stretch flattens the shape into a wide ellipse. You keep seeing far away on the horizontal plane, but chunk sections far above and below your position stop being rendered.
- The maximum value produces the most aggressive culling of distant caves and vertical terrain, which is where most of the fps gain comes from.
Testing It
Stand on a tall mountain or fly upward, then slowly raise the slider. Watch how the visible terrain below and above you shrinks while the horizon stays roughly the same. This is the clearest way to confirm the option is working before you commit to a value for normal play.
