Getting an FPS Boost Without Losing Your Horizon View
Why the Mod Helps
Vanilla Minecraft renders a square block of chunks around you, which includes a lot of chunk sections far above and below your position that you rarely see. This mod replaces that square with a circular radius and lets you stretch it horizontally, so distant cave systems and high-altitude terrain get skipped. The result is fewer chunk sections rendered per frame and a measurable fps improvement.
Picking a Stretch Value
- Start with a modest stretch and check your fps in a busy area such as a village or forest.
- Increase the stretch gradually. Each step removes more vertical terrain from the render set, so fps should climb while your horizontal view distance stays the same.
- If you notice terrain popping in above or below you while flying or mining, you have stretched too far for your playstyle.
Keeping the Horizon
Because the stretch only affects the vertical extent of the render shape, your ability to see distant land on the horizon is preserved. This makes the mod a good fit if you want a long view distance but do not care about seeing every cave layer beneath you. Pair it with a moderate render distance rather than a huge one for the best balance.
