Better Command Block UI Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the improved command block UI?
Place or right-click a command block as you normally would—the mod automatically replaces the default UI with the improved version. No special activation or keybind is needed.
Why is my command showing on multiple lines when it didn't before?
The mod displays your command across multiple lines for readability, but the actual command data sent to the server remains unchanged as a single line. This is purely a visual improvement.
How does the automatic indentation work?
The mod indents text based on parentheses nesting depth, so nested NBT data and function arguments are visually grouped. Deeper nesting = more indentation, making complex structures easier to follow.
Can I select and copy just part of my command?
Yes—click and drag to select a specific section, double-click to select a whole word, or use standard keyboard shortcuts. The selection works the same as a normal text field.
What's the difference between normal backspace and Ctrl-erasing?
Pressing Backspace deletes one character at a time, while holding Ctrl and pressing Backspace deletes entire words, which is especially useful in NBT data to avoid accidentally breaking syntax.
Does this mod work with command blocks on servers?
Yes—the mod is entirely clientside and only changes how you see and edit commands locally. The server receives the exact same command data as before.
How do I navigate a really long command without losing my place?
Use the horizontal and vertical scrollbars to move around, or use Ctrl+Home/End to jump to the start or end of the command. The multi-line layout also makes it easier to spot where you are.
Why are parts of my NBT data different colors?
The mod color-codes nested NBT data so you can visually distinguish different nesting levels and quickly identify matching brackets and braces.
Does this mod affect command performance or execution?
No—the mod only changes the display and editing interface. Commands execute exactly as they would in vanilla Minecraft.
Can I turn off the multi-line display and go back to a single line?
The mod doesn't provide a toggle within the command block UI itself, but the underlying command remains single-line in the world data, so you can always use vanilla command blocks if needed.
