How to Disable or Tone Down Better Combat Animations
When You Might Want This
Some players prefer vanilla swing animations, use resource packs that conflict with the mod's animations, or find the new attack motions distracting in PvP. Better Combat is designed to be configurable, so you can adjust or turn off its visual layer without uninstalling it.
Using the Config
1. Open your mods list or config folder and locate the Better Combat configuration file (it is generated the first time you run the game with the mod).
2. Look for options related to animations, attack animations, or weapon animations. These are typically toggles or sliders.
3. Disable the animation options you do not want. You can usually keep the combo and hit-detection logic while turning off only the visual swings.
4. Save the file and reload the game (or use the in-game config screen if your mod loader provides one).
Things to Keep in Mind
- Turning off animations does not remove the combo system or the multi-target hit calculation — those are gameplay features, not just visuals.
- If a resource pack overrides weapon models, it may fight with the mod's animations. Disabling animations is the usual fix.
- If you want to fully remove the mod's behavior, disable the mod itself rather than only its animations; otherwise combos and sweep hits will still apply.
