How to Fix Clouds Not Showing or Looking Wrong with Better Clouds

If the sky is empty, the clouds look blocky, or they vanish when you fly, the cause is almost always a conflict or a setting rather than a broken install. Work through these checks in order.

Check for conflicting sky mods

Better Clouds is client-side and overhauls the same rendering that other cloud, shader, or sky mods touch. If you run a shader pack, disable its cloud option or disable Better Clouds while testing, because two cloud renderers fighting over the same pass usually produces missing or flickering clouds. Do the same for any other mod that changes clouds or the skybox.

Check your own settings

Open the config and confirm clouds are actually enabled, then raise density and thickness from their minimums. A very low density or a height set below the terrain can make clouds invisible from the ground. Also check your video settings: cloud rendering may be set to off or to a fast mode that the mod respects.

Check distance and performance options

Some cloud settings fade or cull clouds with distance. If clouds pop in and out as you move, increase the cloud render distance or disable any fade option. If performance drops instead, lower density and thickness rather than turning clouds off entirely.

After each change, look straight up at the sky to confirm the result before moving on.
