Better Clouds Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the Better Clouds settings?
Open the mod list from the pause menu, select Better Clouds, and click the config button to reach its options screen. If your mod loader has a Mods button on the main menu, you can also get there without loading a world.
How do I turn the clouds off completely?
In the mod's config, disable cloud rendering or set the cloud mode to off, which hides the mod's clouds entirely. Note that vanilla's own cloud toggle in Video Settings is separate, so check both if clouds still appear.
Why do my clouds look flat or vanilla instead of the new style?
The mod's clouds only render when vanilla clouds are enabled in Video Settings, so turn those back on. Also make sure another cloud-altering mod or resource pack isn't overriding the renderer.
Can I use Better Clouds on a server with friends?
Yes, it's client-side, so you can join any server and only you will see the new clouds. Other players without the mod keep seeing vanilla clouds, and the server doesn't need to install anything.
Does Better Clouds work with shaders?
Shader packs usually replace cloud rendering themselves, so the mod's clouds may be hidden or ignored while shaders are active. If you want the mod's clouds, disable shaders or check whether your shader pack has a cloud option you can turn off.
How do I change the cloud height or altitude?
The config includes a cloud height or altitude setting that moves the cloud layer up or down. Raising it puts clouds higher in the sky, lowering it brings them closer to the ground.
How do I make the clouds move faster or slower?
Look for a cloud speed option in the config and adjust it to taste. Higher values make clouds drift across the sky more quickly, lower values make them nearly still.
Why did my FPS drop after installing Better Clouds?
The mod's clouds are more detailed than vanilla, so lower the cloud quality or density setting first. If you're still struggling, reduce the cloud render distance or disable fancy cloud features in the config.
Do my Better Clouds settings save per world or per server?
The mod supports per-world and per-server configuration, so settings you change while in one world won't necessarily apply to another. Check the config screen for a global versus per-world toggle if your changes seem to reset.
Why are there no clouds at all after I changed a setting?
You likely disabled clouds or set density to zero in the config, so re-enable cloud rendering and raise the density. Also confirm vanilla clouds are still on in Video Settings, since the mod depends on them.
