Improving FPS by Tuning Block Entity Optimization

Understand What Gets Optimized

Better Block Entities converts inactive block entities into a static mesh, cutting the CPU and GPU work needed to keep them animating every frame. Active or recently changed block entities still render normally, so you keep the original animations where they matter. The performance win scales with how many block entities are in view.

Make Sure Types Are Enabled

Open the config and confirm the categories you care about are toggled on. If you previously disabled chests, signs, or shulker boxes to fix a conflict, those types are no longer optimized and cost full performance. Re-enable anything you do not actively need disabled.

Reduce On-Screen Block Entities

Optimization helps most when many block entities are visible. Storage rooms, villager trading halls, and decorated bases benefit heavily. Spreading out large numbers of chests and signs lets the mod mesh more of them at once instead of constantly re-rendering active ones.

Combine with View Distance

Because optimized block entities are cheaper to draw, you can often raise your entity or block entity render distance without tanking FPS. Increase it gradually and watch your frame rate. If performance drops, lower it back. Test in a busy area of your base rather than an empty field, since that reflects real load.

Confirm the Gain

Compare FPS while looking at a dense block entity area before and after enabling optimization for all types.
