Fixing Visual Glitches and Mod Conflicts with Better Block Entities

Identify the Culprit

Visual problems from Better Block Entities usually show up as missing animations, flickering textures, or blocks that look frozen when they should be animated. These typically appear when another mod also touches block entity rendering. Entity-model or texture mods are frequent offenders because they replace how certain blocks are drawn.

Isolate by Disabling Types

Open the mod's config and disable optimization for the block type that looks wrong. For example, if chests flicker, turn off the chest category only. Reload resources or restart, then check the block again. If the glitch disappears, you have confirmed the conflict is specific to that type.

Resolve the Conflict

You have two options. Keep that type disabled in Better Block Entities so the other mod handles it, while the rest of your block entities stay optimized. Or, if the other mod offers its own toggle for that block, disable it there instead and re-enable Better Block Entities for that type. Either way, only one mod should be responsible for rendering a given block entity.

Check Viewing Distance Behavior

Some glitches only appear at long range, where the mod swaps to its optimized mesh. Walk toward and away from the block to see whether the issue is distance-dependent. If it is, disabling that type is the reliable fix.
