Do I need to enable this data pack or does it work automatically?
You need to enable the Beta Recipes Data Pack in your world settings before it takes effect. Once enabled, all crafting recipes will immediately switch to their Beta versions.
Why am I getting oak planks from spruce and birch logs?
This is intentional—the data pack converts all log types (spruce, birch, and oak) into oak planks to match Beta Minecraft behavior. This is part of the simplified crafting system.
How do I dye wool in this data pack?
You must craft white wool together with a dye item: use lapis lazuli for blue, cocoa beans for brown, or ink sacs for black. Dyed wool recipes do not accept pre-colored wool as input.
Why do I get fewer slabs when crafting?
Slab recipes output 3 slabs instead of the modern 6, making them more resource-intensive. Oak slabs are crafted as petrified oak slabs, and smooth stone slabs are made from regular stone rather than smooth stone.
What's the recipe for stone buttons?
Stone buttons require 2 vertical stone blocks arranged in the crafting grid, which is different from the modern recipe.
How many ladders do I get from the ladder recipe?
The ladder recipe outputs 2 ladders instead of the modern 3, making ladder production slower and more costly.
How do I craft fences with this data pack?
Fences require 6 sticks and output 2 fences instead of 3, making fence building more resource-intensive than modern Minecraft.
Can I still get experience from smelting?
No—smelting does not grant experience in this data pack, matching Beta Minecraft mechanics where smelting was purely utilitarian.
What materials do I need to craft golden apples?
Golden apples are crafted using gold blocks instead of gold ingots, requiring significantly more gold and making them much harder to obtain.
Will this data pack conflict with other recipe-changing mods or data packs?
Yes—running multiple data packs or mods that modify crafting recipes can cause conflicts. Load only one recipe-modification data pack at a time to avoid unpredictable behavior.
