How to Add a Game Mode and Addons to a BentoBox Server
This guide is for admins. BentoBox does not create islands by itself. You add game modes and extras as addons.
Set up addons
1. Stop the server.
2. Put game mode addon files (for example BSkyBlock or AcidIsland) into plugins/BentoBox/addons/.
3. Put in any extra addons you want, such as Level, Challenges, Warps, Limits, Border or Bank.
4. Start the server. BentoBox loads each addon and creates a config folder for it in the addons directory.
5. Run /bentobox version (alias /bbox) to see which addons loaded. Check the console if one is missing, since an addon usually fails because of a missing dependency or a mismatch with the server software.
Configure
- The framework settings are in
plugins/BentoBox/config.yml. - Each game mode has its own
config.ymlin its addon folder. This is where you set world names, island distance, starting protection range, and default flag settings. - Edit the config only while the server is stopped for settings that affect world generation. Island distance should not be changed after players have made islands.
/bentobox reloadreloads the BentoBox config and locales. For game mode changes, a restart is the safest choice.
Permissions
Permissions are prefixed with the game mode's name, for example bskyblock.island.* style nodes. Use your permissions plugin to give players commands and set limits. Admin commands use the game mode's admin label, such as /bsbadmin.
