How do I start using BentoBox on my server?
BentoBox is only a framework, so you need at least one game mode addon (such as BSkyBlock or AcidIsland) in its addons folder before players have anything to play. Restart the server, then players can type /island to get started.
How do I create my first island?
Run /island (or /island create) and pick a blueprint bundle if the server offers several. You are teleported to your new island, and /island go brings you back to it later.
Why does /island say unknown command?
No game mode is loaded, or it failed to load. Check the console at startup for addon errors, confirm the game mode jar is in the BentoBox addons folder (not the main plugins folder), and restart. Each game mode also has its own command prefix, so try its alias, like /bsb for BSkyBlock.
How do I invite a friend to my island team?
Use /island team invite , and they accept with /island team accept. Then use /island team setowner and the rank commands to decide who can do what.
How do I stop visitors from breaking or opening things on my island?
Use /island settings to open the protection menu. There you set which actions each rank (visitor, member, trusted, owner and so on) is allowed to do. You can also use /island ban or /island expel for problem players.
How do I add addons like Challenges or Level?
Put the addon jar in plugins/BentoBox/addons and restart the server. A /reload will not load it properly. Once loaded, the addon's commands appear under your game mode's command, such as /island challenges or /island level.
Do I need to restart every time I change a config?
Many settings can be reloaded with /bentobox reload, but changes to things like world generation or island spacing in a game mode's config usually need a full restart. Changing island distance after players have already made islands can cause problems, so settle it before launch.
How do I give players different permissions or limits?
BentoBox uses standard permission nodes, so set them with a permissions plugin like LuckPerms. The permission names are listed in each game mode's and addon's documentation, and they follow that game mode's prefix.
Is BentoBox compatible with my other plugins, and does it cause lag?
It works with common permission, economy and world-management plugins, and it can hook into Vault and Multiverse where they are installed. Lag usually comes from heavy actions such as island level calculation or generating lots of new chunks, so pregenerate the world and avoid running many level calculations at once.
How do I reset my island or delete a stuck one as an admin?
Players can use /island reset, though servers may limit how many resets they get. Admins can use the game mode's admin command (for example /bsbadmin) to delete, register or manage someone else's island. Take a backup first, because deletions can't be undone.
