Bedrock Skins Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the skin picker menu?
Press K while in-game to open the skin chooser menu, or click the skin button on the main menu or pause screen. The menu will display all available skins from your installed skin packs.
Why aren't my Bedrock skins showing up?
Make sure your skin pack files are in the correct mod folder and formatted as valid Bedrock skin packs (with JSON geometry files and textures). The mod only loads skins from compatible skin pack sources; incompatible formats won't appear in the menu.
Can I use skins with custom 3D models and animations?
Yes, that's the main feature of this mod. Any Bedrock skin pack with custom geometry and animations will display those 3D models and play the animations when you wear it, both in-game and on the paper doll preview.
What's the paper doll and where do I see it?
The paper doll is an animated preview of your current character model that appears on the main menu and pause screen. It shows your skin's 3D geometry and plays any built-in animations so you can see how your character looks before joining a world.
How do I mark skins as favorites?
Open the skin picker menu and select the skin you want to favorite; there should be an option to mark it as a favorite for quick access. Favorited skins will be grouped separately in the menu for easier management.
Do other players see my custom Bedrock skin?
Other players on Java Edition servers will see your custom skin if they also have the mod installed; players without the mod will see your default Java skin. The mod is client-side only, so it doesn't require server-side installation.
Will this mod work with other skin mods?
This mod is designed to work alongside Legacy Console Edition skin support and similar mods, but conflicts may occur if multiple mods try to control skins simultaneously. Check the mod's compatibility notes if you're using other appearance-related mods.
Can I use HD textures with my skins?
Yes, the mod automatically loads and displays high-definition textures that are included in your Bedrock skin packs. As long as your skin pack contains HD texture files, they'll render at their native resolution.
Does switching skins affect my game performance?
Switching skins in the menu has minimal performance impact since it's just loading different models and textures. However, having many large skin packs installed may increase load times; consider removing unused packs if you experience slowdowns.
What happens if I load a skin pack with missing files?
Incomplete or corrupted skin packs may fail to load or display with missing textures and broken geometry. Ensure your skin pack files are complete and properly formatted; re-download or repair the pack if you encounter errors.
