How to Make Chat Cleaner by Removing the Timestamp or Username

Decide what to strip out

Some players want a minimal chat: just names and messages, or just messages with a time. Because the layout is driven entirely by chatMessageFormat, you control exactly which pieces appear.

Remove the timestamp

Open the config file and delete %timestamp% from chatMessageFormat, along with any separator characters that were only there to set it apart (such as the | or extra spaces). The remaining variables still render normally, so a format like %username%: %chatmessage% gives you a clean name-and-message line with no clock.

Remove the username

If you would rather keep the time but hide who sent each message, delete %username% instead and tidy up the leftover separators. A format such as [%timestamp%] %chatmessage% shows only the time and the text.

Save and test

Save the file and reload the config or restart the game. Send a test message and confirm the unwanted element is gone and the spacing looks right. If you see stray punctuation or double spaces, re-open the file and remove the orphaned separator characters. You can always restore the default format later if you change your mind.
